Privacy Policy for Marian Gradely

1. Overview

Marian Gradely is an offline-first academic grading tool designed for professional educators. We prioritize your privacy and the security of student data. This policy explains how your information is handled.

2. Data Collection & Usage

• Student Data: Information imported via XML (names, ID numbers) or entered manually is stored locally on your device's internal storage.

• Permissions: The app requires access to your device storage only to import official university rosters, class transfer files, and export PDF reports and Excel sheets.

• No Third-Party Access: We do not sell, trade, or share student data with any third-party companies or individuals.

3. Google Integration & API Permissions 

When you log into your Google Account within Marian Gradely, the app requests access to specific Google services to provide cloud features:

a. Google Drive API (drive.file)

• Purpose: Allows you to create, upload, and restore optional database backups. 

• Scope of Access: Access is limited strictly to files created by Marian Gradely. 

The developer and third parties have no access to your Google Drive files or backup contents.

b. Gmail API (gmail.send)

• Purpose: Used solely to dispatch student absence and attendance notice emails on your behalf.

• How It Works: The app generates a notice draft which you preview and edit. The email is sent directly from your Gmail account only when you tap "Send."

• Data Privacy: Marian Gradely NEVER reads, accesses, modifies, or stores your personal emails, inbox messages, or Gmail contacts. 

4. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance 

Marian Gradely's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: 

• We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements. 

• We do not share Google user data with any third parties. 

• We do not use Google user data to train machine learning or artificial intelligence (AI/ML) models. 

5. Security

Marian Gradely utilizes Biometric Authentication (Fingerprint/Face Unlock) and system-level encryption to ensure that even if your device is lost, the student records remain protected.
